squad edit this GUIDE TO NAMES: Carrion Crows is semi-traditional when it comes to character names. Basically, if you can explain the reasoning behind your character's name well enough in their biography and the name isn't too outrageous, it'll probably be accepted. All we ask that the names you choose for your characters stay within the realm of realism. As long as you adhere to the rules below, your character's name should be acceptable: I. Prefixes have to be something a feral cat in the UK/North America would encounter in the wild and they have to be something in nature. If a prefix or suffix existed in the books, it is also applicable.
II. Prefixes cannot be scientific names of plants or animals (i.e. Lupuspaw)
III. Moon- and Sun- are acceptable prefixes. Star- is not.
IV. A suffix must describe one of the three traits listed in the suffix paragraph (personality trait, outstanding skill, or physical feature).
V. Prefixes are limited to one cat per Clan and only one cat on the site can have a certain prefix/suffix combination at a time. For example, there can be a Fire- cat in each Clan but there can't be two Firepaws or two Firestorms, even if they're in a different Clan. Warrior names are made up of a prefix and a suffix. Generally, the prefix is chosen at birth and is used to describe the color of the cat's pelt. Queens can't name their kits after their eye color because a kit's eye color can't be determined until it's three moons old. Until a cat is a warrior, their suffix (-kit, -paw) describes their rank in the Clan. At their warrior ceremony, a leader usually chooses their warrior suffix based on their personality or an outstanding skill they have (i.e. a cat that's good at running might be given -foot as a suffix). There are suffixes to describe physical features, too, such as -stripe for a tabby or -face for an exceptionally attractive cat. Name changes are reserved for cats whose names don't suit them anymore, for cats who have been injured, and - less formally - for some Clanless cats who join a Clan. If you're having trouble thinking up a name for your character, feel free to ask for ideas in the cbox or check out the resource sites below for inspiration:
